Financial Assistance Program

for Renal transplant patients affected by COVID-19

COVID and Renal Transplant.png

Project Background

The current global COVID-19 pandemic has caused a tremendous public health burden to India. Certain high risk individuals are at high risk of complications and mortality from this disease. Renal transplant recipients are one such critical risk group. They are at higher risk or progressing to severe infection if they contract COVID-19 infection due to their weakened immune system. Mortality can be as high as 30% compared to 3-4% seen in the general population.

We foresee an increased financial burden for transplant patients fighting COVID-19. Having been through the arduous procedure of transplantation and immunosuppressive medication, we want each patient to have a fighting chance if faced with a COVID-19 infection.
